Meghan Markle Refusing To Do This Royal Tradition When She Welcomes Baby Sussex

June 2024 · 2 minute read

Fans hoping to get a look at Meghan Markle’s baby as she leaves the hospital are in for a disappointment. In a break from royal tradition, some royal commentators claim that the Duchess of Sussex will not be taking photos on the steps of the hospital because of her “feminist world view.”

Speaking on the podcast, On Heir, Emily Andrews and Omid Scobie told fans that Markle does not want to take any photos after giving birth to her first child with Prince Harry. If the reports are true, this would be a major break from royal tradition.

In all three of her births, Kate Middleton stopped for a quick photo op on the steps of the Lindo Wing – as did her mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

“Given what we know about Meghan, the optics of a totally glamorous, picture perfect moment hours after giving birth are not quite in alignment with her views on the world,” Scobie shared.

That said, there might be a better explanation as to why Markle is not taking any post-birth photos. According to Daily Mail, the former actress is not planning on having the baby inside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s hospital, which kind of makes it hard for a traditional photo op.

Kensington Palace has not confirmed where Markle will give birth, but St. Mary’s has not made any preparations for a royal visit.

With Markle and Harry moving to Frogmore Cottage shortly after the birth, there has been speculation that she will deliver the baby in a hospital near Windsor. The only problem is that there are several hospitals in the area that could be potential landing spots.

There are also reports that Harry and Markle will chose a private setting for the birth, where they can enjoy time away from the spotlight.

Markle is expected to welcome her first child sometime this month, though an exact due date has not been announced. While we wait for the birth announcement, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially on Instagram, which is probably where we’ll get our first glimpse of the baby. Fingers crossed.
