Dylan Farrow And Rose McGowan Slam Upcoming Woody Allen Memoir

April 2024 · 2 minute read

Woody Allen, the legendary filmmaker who was famously accused of assaulting his own step-daughter, has a new book coming out, and a few people aren’t happy about it. This past Monday, Grand Central Publishing announced Allen’s memoir, Apropos of Nothing, will come out on the 7th of April.

The memoir purports to explore his personal life, career struggles, and the challenges he faced with family and friends. Dylan Farrow, Allen’s adopted daughter who has accused Woody of molesting her as a young girl, was just one person who criticized the publisher for releasing the book.

On her social media account, Dylan explained that the release of the memoir was extremely upsetting to her and also a massive betrayal of Ronan Farrow, who reported on the alleged abuse of power by powerful men. The same publishing company distributed his New York Times best-seller last year.

According to Farrow, she was never once contacted by any fact-checkers to ensure that everything in his book was correct. She argued that her story has been endlessly scrutinized, while at the same time undergoing “extensive fact-checking.”

Another woman intimately tied to the #MeToo movement, Rose McGowan, wasn’t pleased with the publisher either. Rose took to her social media to criticize the CEO of Hachette Book Group – the company that owns the aforementioned publishing division – of profiting already enough from Catch and Kill, Ronan Farrow’s book.

Similar to Dylan Farrow, Rose McGowan claimed the publisher had clearly betrayed Ronan Farrow by publishing Woody Allen’s memoirs. Followers of the Allen affair know that he and his ex, Mia Farrow, adopted their daughter Dylan.

Mia accused him of molesting their child when she was just 7-years-old. Allen, over the years, has done nothing but deny the allegations, and at no point has there ever been charges laid against him. However, he has lost distribution deals.

Woody had been working with Amazon Studios to release several of his films, including A Rainy Day In New York, which was later scrapped in the United States because Amazon claimed Woody had made comments about the #MeToo movement.

Woody later filed a lawsuit against Amazon for millions of dollars. It was later dropped.
