DMX

DMX is an American rapper with an estimated net worth of -$10 million. Born on December 18, 1970 with the name Earl Simmons, he was born in Mount Vernon, New York. His mother was Arnett Simmons and his father was Joe Barker. He was raised in Yonkers in a very volatile lifestyle. He reports that his household was one of abuse and hatred, and that much of his childhood was spent in group homes when his parents were unable to care for him – which was often. He also spent much of his teenage life in jail after being arrested multiple times for various crimes.

By the time it was 1988 and he was considered a legal adult, DMX began beatboxing. He knew he wanted to be in the rap game somehow, and this was the way in which he thought he might begin. It took him three years to become noticed by anyone, and when that happened it seemed his life changed overnight. By the time 1992 rolled around, he was signed to Columbia Records. Ruffhouse, a subsidiary, released his first single and it was not one that did very well. It took some time and a bit of creativity before he became noticed, primarily when he was able to collaborate with other artists with bigger names.

His first successful record was released in 1998 via Def Jam Recordings. The album was “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot,” and the hit single “Ruff Ryders Anthem,” was on the album and helped it debut at number one on the Billboard charts. He released his second album the same year. His third was released a year later. Like the first two, it was also a number one album right away. By the time it was 2013, he was working on his 8th album and having not quite as much success as he did with the first five or six albums he created.

Perhaps his personal life has a lot to do with the fact that he has so much trouble in his life right now. Despite having so many number one albums and being such a famous rapper, he’s fathered 12 kids with his wife and with several other women throughout the course of his marriage. He and his wife split, but he maintains that he is friendly with her. in 2013, he filed bankruptcy after he announced that he has child support to pay for so many kids and can no longer afford to pay it.

He’s been arrested multiple times and served some time in jail. Due to his time behind bars not making music or money, his inability to tour thanks to so much of his probation and those requirements and his child support obligations, he has no money left over. Additionally, he lived far in excess of his means when he was at the peak of his career, causing him to lose most everything that he owns and leaving him in debt more than $10 million.
